What a difference technology can make!

Yoga - can it make a difference?

Karthik Home Read on

Two men meet on the street.
One asks the other: “Hi, how are you?”
The other one replies:
“I’m fine, thanks.”
“And how’s your son? Is he still unemployed?”
“Yes, he is. But he is meditating now.”
“Meditating? What’s that?”
“I don’t know. But it’s better than sitting around and doing nothing!”

Just wanted to write a little bit about the exercise I am doing nowadays. I am not a yogi but just wanted to try the effects of yoga. I did learn few asanas from my friend (guru) and wanted to see if it makes any difference in me. Well, I wouldn’t says it has made a big difference in me within a week but its keeping me stress free and relaxed.

Annalakshmi - South Indian Restaurant

Karthik Home Read on

Its more like a temple than a restaurant. Yes, the place is designed like that. We entered opening the wooden door with bell into a long rectangular hall with pillars and lamps hanging similar to temple corridors. The place reverberates with a sacred aura. We were listening to slokas sung by MS Subalakshmi. We had good quality people helping us with the food. I could see a different class of service in this place which I haven’t seen in a five star hotel too. I then learnt, all the people are devotees of Swami Shantananda Saraswati (a disciple of Sivananda) who volunteer to cook and serve. The people who served me food came in a Skoda :).

Rajyalakshmi (mix of north Indian and south Indian) was the food we ordered. The food had all the south Indian home made varieties. To name a few I njoyed were kothamalli podi with Sundaikai, Vathakozhambu with oil, Tomato Rasam, Curd Rice, Arusi Upma, Vazhapoo Vadai, Sepakezhangu fry, and Pickles (Gadarangai, Maagali, Maanga). The food was great and we were feeling at home. This place is little expensive but I learnt the money goes for charity. Try it and nJoy the food prepared by PHd’s of South Indian Tradition.

Laptops - a threat to our Laps

I have the habit of placing my laptop on my lap while working from home. I normally use a pillow to keep off the heat but then this news is shocking. I learnt from Arunmani that “A Dell Laptop suddenly exploded into flames recently at a conference held in Osaka, Japan. Be careful and all you can do is to avoid using laptops on your lap.

Indian Railways

I came across this screen shot in an e-mail from my friend Jay. Very interesting and stupid to have this advt in a Indian Railways official website.

My Teddy

Karthik Home Read on

I have a great liking for Teddy’s. I dont know from where I got this habit of buying Teddy’s. Somehow I enjoy having them in my showcase.

This was my first teddy from my first month salary. This huge fellow is almost close to 6 years old but can still sing the prerecorded “I Love You” song in full swing. I managed to dust him using the new vaccum cleaner I bought y’day. He is back to his old color and charm.

I gifted few more but they are all right back in my showcase. Good deal!

Bangalore trip

KARY Home Read on

The road connecting Chennai and Bangalore is amazing and is in par with international roads. I remember how long it used to take to reach bangalore earlier (almost close to 8hrs by road) and now its just 5hrs. Thanks to the Highways department. Few snaps from Bangalore…

Fountain in Lalbagh

Lalbagh park

I am sure people would have heard of Forum (equivalent to Spencers in Chennai). This place - I would say is really happening. For shopping I would not prefer this place but to kill the day and have fun - this is the right kind of place for youngsters.

Staircase leading to the theatre. I am missing my youth…:(

Lord Vinayaka in Kempfort Siva temple

Amazing Siva before sunset

Aavin Milk to Curd

KARY Home Read on

I came across an interesting story at home today. Getting milk to curd is a long process every day at home. You must be aware that curd added to milk gets converted to curd within 4 hours. My aunt noticed in the recent days that curd that comes out of this process is not thick. She immediately called up the Aavin toll-free number found on the milk cover. To my surprise she got a very positive answer. Aavin company has agreed to send a person home to check the quality of milk. She is the first person to try this to my knowledge. I Bet!

Product quality in India will improve if people become very consious…
